Last week for the first in my series of blog posts about ‘Coping with Christmas’ I had four margaritas… Thank you to everyone who sent me ideas for the next instalment. The blogger Surfergirl suggested I try a different cocktail every weekend. And my good friend (and brilliant comedienne) Vicky Arlidge suggested I had four margaritas every night until Christmas and chronicled my adventures (very funny Vicky!).

In fact, apart from a couple of bottles of Peroni at the work Christmas party on Thursday night, not a drop of alcohol has passed my lips all week. I generally hate the Christmas party but this year I quite enjoyed it. Maybe it was the Peronis. Maybe when you keep telling yourself you hate something, it’s never as bad as you think it’s going to be.

So in the absence of anything more interesting or informative to impart myself, I’d like to point you to the wise words of two wonderful women. The first is Jody Day of Gateway Women who has done an incredible job over the last few years in raising awareness of the impact of childlessness. And the second is Naomi of Mindful Muma-to-be, who was told at 19 that she may never get pregnant naturally, has been through four years of infertility treatment including a miscarriage earlier this year, and is now three months pregnant by natural conception. Both women have written beautifully about coping with Christmas and have much insight to share. So for some Christmassy magic, just click on their names and see. Then join me for Part III next week – the final countdown!
